Act 4, Scene 4: Helena provides
proof of her identity to the Widow, and they plan together to go to Marseilles where they know Bertram
is at. Helena warns Diana that some unpleasantries might be ahead for her, but Diana does not
care.
Act 4, Scene 5: The Lord Lafew
discusses Bertram's return with the Countess. The Countess had heard the news of Helena's death
and was saddened by it. Lafew tells her that he has spoken to the King on Bertram's behalf, and
convinced him that Bertram should marry Lafew's daughter. When both were children, the King had
thought up this idea, and Lafew was bringing the idea back to life. The King said he would speak
with Bertram about the marriage as soon as he returned.
