Katherine tries to get Grumio to give her some food. Grumio, knowing that he was not supposed, told her different foods that were available, but in the end would not bring them to her. Petruchio and Hortensio enter with meat, and Petruchio gives it to Katherine and Hortensio after he makes Kate say thank you. He tells Hortensio, however, to eat it all. When Katherine starts to eat however, Petruchio announces that they are going to go to her sister's house for her wedding. Kate is excited, and Petruchio brings in the tailor and hat maker. The dress and hat that Petruchio had prepared for her were offered, but Petruchio complained that they were not good enough. Katherine wanted them, but he would not keep them. They leave, and Katherine at this point agrees to any ludicrous statement that Petruchio says.
