The Squire's Tale
A king who fought Russia, named Cambuscan, had two sons, and a granddaughter named Canace. One day, during a feast, a strange knight came into the feast and gave Cambuscan a bronze horse that could transport a person anywhere in the world in only 24 hours. He also gave a mirror that showed the entire truth, and would show imperfections of deception and perfections of virtue, and a ring was given to Canace that would allow her to communicate with any animal. Also, he gave them a sword that could cut through any metal, and any wound created by this sword would not heal unless the sword was passed over the wound.
Canace has a dream about the mirror, and is scared when she wakes up, and so she takes a walk while wearing her ring. She comes upon a lovesick falcon, and takes it home to care for it.
Here the story is lost to history, and no more of it exists in print.
