In this exremely short scene, Launcelot tells Shylock's daughter, Jessica, that he is quitting and she wishes him well. He thanks her for her kindness and says she is a "sweet Jew" and acts more like a Christian. She gives him a letter to deliver to Lorenzo, a friend of Bassanio's. After Launcelot leaves, Jessica says she is ashamed to be her father's child and that she will marry the Christian Lorenzo if all works out as planned.
