Isabella comes to meet Angelo and find out his ruling on her brother. Angelo tells her that the only way her brother won't be tortured and executed is if she sleeps with him. Isabella refuses, saying it is better to have her brother die in body now than have her soul die forever. He then professes his love for her but when she threatens to tell the world of his trying to get her into bed, he says no one would believe her because of his perfect record. He gives her till the next day to decide, and she decides to go to her brother and ask him how she should handle it though she knows he'll say that she shouldn't give up her body.
