Summary
In the Tour-Roland the Sachette is praying for the return of her child. For fifteen years she has begged God to return her daughter and the tiny shoe has become the object of countless hopes and prayers. A group of children are talking outside her cell and she overhears one of them say that the authorities will hang a gypsy woman that day. She rushes to the barred window and sees that a scaffold erected in the square. She recognizes Claude Frollo and inquires the identity of the girl. She is overjoyed when he tells her it is the same young gypsy girl she has hated for so long.
